REPORT DATE: 02-03-2019 REPORT TIME: 1435 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 02-03-2019 IMAGE TIME: 0018 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 29°44'56" N/94°44'15" W AREA: 1.94 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located in Trinity Bay and appeared to emanate from an oil facility. It measured approximately 6.4 nmi in length in three parts, and was up to 0.25 nmi wide. Winds were from the east-southeast at 7 kts. The anomaly appeared distinct from its background and had relatively sharp edges in most areas. UNCERTAINTIES: There were no reported spills in the area. Also, all or part of the anomaly could be bigenic in nature, given the proximity to land. However, given that the anomaly appears to begin at an oil facility, confidence that this is oil is medium-high.
