REPORT DATE: 02-18-2019 REPORT TIME: 1030 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 02-17-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1633 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'16" W AREA: 89.94 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The broken anomaly was attached to the Destroyed Taylor platform, stretched towards the northeast roughly 50 nmi and measured 0.98 nmi wide near the source. Measured winds at the time of observation were 10 kts and from the south. Modeled ocean currents in the area were mostly 1.0 kt and exceeded 1.25 kts in some areas downstream. Confidence was determined to be High given the association with a repeat leak source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: Cloud cover inhibits the full coverage area. Northern portions of the anomaly may or may not be associated.
