REPORT DATE: 03-15-2019 REPORT TIME: 1615 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 03-15-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1203 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: Standard VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 22.77 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to emanate from the destroyed Taylor Energy platform and extends SW for approximately 9.2NM; the oil appears dark and is indicative of oil in sun-glint conditions. Wind data indicates that winds were out of the SSW at approximately 3.9 kts, while this data does not align with the orientation of the anomaly the confidence was determined to be high given that the Taylor platform is known as a repeat leak source. UNCERTAINTIES: Uncertainties are minimal given the history of the Taylor Energy platform as a repeat leak source.
