REPORT DATE: 03-22-2019 REPORT TIME: 0056 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: EAST BREAKS 383 IMAGE DATE: 03-20-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1652 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 27°36'30" N/94°25'25" W AREA: 5.62 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery and is unconfirmed as oil. This anomaly appeared to emanate from a moving vessel located 140NM south of Trinity Bay, TX in the Gulf of Mexico. The anomaly widens with distance and appears dark against the ocean background; the anomaly also appears to have an embedded section of no observed oil and extends for a total of 11.9NM. Winds during the time of this observation were out of the ENE at 12kts and agrees with the alignment of this anomaly. This report also coincides with a Marine Pollution Surveillance Report issued yesterday which also highlights this same anomaly. UNCERTAINTIES: Uncertainties are minimal.
