REPORT DATE: 03-25-2019 REPORT TIME: 1140 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 03-24-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1629 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 93.22 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to emanate from the destroyed Taylor Energy platform and extends SW to NE for approximately 26NM with an embedded section of possible thicker oil; the sections of possible thicker oil appear silver and is indicative of oil. Local wind data from indicates that winds were out of the E at approximately 12kts and aligns with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be high given that the Taylor platform is known as a repeat leak source. UNCERTAINTIES: Uncertainties are minimal given that the Taylor platform is known as a repeat leak source.
