REPORT DATE: 04-06-2019 REPORT TIME: 1200 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 04-06-2019 IMAGE TIME: 0001 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'13" W AREA: 8.23 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. It stretched south of the source and measured 6 NMI long by 0.5 NMI wide on average. The eastern edge of the anomaly was well defined, but the western edge was diffuse and difficult to differentiate from the adjacent area of low wind. Wind speeds at the time of the pass were 0-5 knots with variable direction. UNCERTAINTIES: There is significant uncertainty in the true extent of the possible oil anomaly due to unfavorably low wind conditions.
