REPORT DATE: 04-10-2019 REPORT TIME: 2230 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 04-10-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1631 UTC DATA SOURCE: ASTER MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 15 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 4.56 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly measured 11.62 NM in length and 0.29 NM in width. Winds were 5 kts out of the NE. Confidence that the anomaly seen was oil is high. The anomaly exhibited several sharp unnatural turns and aligned well with wind conditions at the time of the image. It also appeared to originate from the destroyed Taylor Energy platform, a known repeat leak source. UNCERTAINTIES: Due to somewhat poor image quality the full extent of the anomaly could not be determined.
