REPORT DATE: 04-16-2019 REPORT TIME: 2000 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 04-15-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1712 UTC DATA SOURCE: WORLDVIEW2 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 1.8 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 0.40 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended approximately 1.31 nmi to the southwest from the site of the destroyed Taylor platform, and was up to 0.19 nmi in width. Winds at the time of the image were from the NE at 10-15 knots, aligning well with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be high given that the Taylor platform is known as a repeat leak source. UNCERTAINTIES: There is uncertainty in the exact shape of the anomaly due to possible associated thinning.
