REPORT DATE: 04-16-2019 REPORT TIME: 2400 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 04-16-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1625 UTC DATA SOURCE: LANDSAT8 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 30 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 54.16 square kilometers (Updated 05/14/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to be emanating from the destroyed Taylor Energy platform. It contained multiple segments and the longest extended approximately 28.06 nmi to the southwest from the site and measured 1.72 nmi at its greatest width. The anomaly appeared dark in color with silvery streaks near the center. Winds at the time of the image were around 10 knots from the ENE and aligned well with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be high given that the Taylor platform is a repeat leak source.
