REPORT DATE: 04-26-2019 REPORT TIME: 0240 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 04-24-2019 IMAGE TIME: 2347 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: Standard VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 0.95 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: A possible oil slick was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The slick appeared to originate from the location of Destroyed Taylor platform, a source of repeat oil leaks. The anomaly extends approximately 1.24 nm NE away from the source and is measured 0.15 nm wide as its widest distance. The anomaly shows a weak contrast against the ocean background although the direction aligns well with surface wind data near the time of the image. UNCERTAINTIES: The confidence has been degraded to a medium high due to its faint signature appearance.
