REPORT DATE: 04-29-2019 REPORT TIME: 0750 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 04-28-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1629 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 3.19 square kilometers (Updated 05/14/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. There were two areas of anomaly. The smaller area was 3nm long, and 0.19nm wide, and nearly attached to the repeat point source. The larger area was 4.2nm long and 0.35nm wide and located about 1nm NW from the point source. Part of the anomaly had silver shimmer, which indicates thicker oil. The winds were 5kts out of the east. UNCERTAINTIES: The larger area of the oil slick is not directly attached to the point source. However, we have high confidence given that the Taylor platform is the only known repeat leak source in the vicinity.
