REPORT DATE: 04-30-2019 REPORT TIME: 1515 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: GRAND ISLE 33 IMAGE DATE: 04-30-2019 IMAGE TIME: 0001 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 29°01'53" N/89°55'26" W AREA: 0.64 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly had good contrast with its background and was broken into two sections with the largest segment extending about 1 NM long by 0.4 NM wide at its widest. Additionally, the anomaly appeared to originate from a point source. Winds were from the ESE at 10 KT at the time of the image, which did not correlate too well with the spread of the anomaly. Considering the above factors, we have MEDIUM-HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: There is a possibility that the anomaly may be associated with a substance other than oil. Winds did not align well its orientation.
