REPORT DATE: 05-09-2019 REPORT TIME: 1300 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 6627 IMAGE DATE: 05-08-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1624 UTC DATA SOURCE: WORLDVIEW2 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 1.8 meter LOCATION: 40°24'04" N/72°22'10" W AREA: 0.01 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. It was associated with the Coimbra Tanker Shipwreck, and exhibited two thin streamers of possible oil, likely because of interference with the vessel at the site. Both slicks measured approximately 0.25 NMI long by 0.01 NMI wide. They showed moderate contrast against the ocean background and were removed from natural phenomena. Winds at the time of the image were from the Northeast. UNCERTAINTIES: No uncertainties as this is a repeat leak source ANALYST: RAMIREZ Maps and shapefiles can be accessed at: www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/ocean/marinepollution/ ERMA: https://erma.noaa.gov/atlantic/erma.html#/layers=1+46915&x=-72.371545&y=40.400401&z=11&panel=layer For further information on oil spill response and assessment go to: https://response.restoration.noaa.gov/oil-and-chemical-spills/oil-spills If you would like to share any feedback about this report or have questions, please contact the operational analyst at (301) 683-1403 or send to oceanmap@noaa.gov.
