REPORT DATE: 05-13-2019 REPORT TIME: 1545 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: ST PETERSBURG 720 IMAGE DATE: 05-12-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1609 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 27°15'08" N/83°14'51" W AREA: 5.29 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended 4.3 NM in length by 0.65 NM in width and had a silvery sheen consistent with sun glint. Winds were out of the S at 10 KT, which did not align well with subtle feathering noted in the image. Furthermore, there is no apparent point source. The vessel in the image to the SW of the anomaly is not related. Considering the above factors we have MEDIUM confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly feathering does not align with the winds and there is no apparent point source.
