REPORT DATE: 05-20-2019 REPORT TIME: 0300 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO AREA/BLOCK: PULLEY RIDGE 949 IMAGE DATE: 05-19-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1559 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 25°01'22" N/82°45'22" W AREA: 0.07 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended approximately 0.57 nmi to the northeast from the site of the sunken Cudahy shipwreck, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.05 nmi in width. It appeared dark in color and had silver/white shimmer to part of the anomaly. Measured winds at the time of image were 10 kts and from the southeast. Modeled ocean currents suggested surface waters were moving northeast 1.5-2.0 kts near the source of the anomaly. The overall orientation of the anomaly matched the current direction well. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a repeat leak source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: Due to the repeat leak nature of the suspected source, there are no uncertainties.
