REPORT DATE: 05-29-2019 REPORT TIME: 0515 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 05-28-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1629 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 0.58 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. An oil slick 1.1 nm in length and up to 0.4 nm in width was detected extending to the northeast of the destroyed Taylor platform. Winds at the time of the image were from the south at 5 knots. UNCERTAINTIES: Although there was some uncertainty in the precise areal coverage of oil due to scattered clouds especially at the northeastern edge, overall confidence remained high given the origin was a repeat leak source and the orientation of the slick agreed reasonably well with the surface winds.
