REPORT DATE: 06-01-2019 REPORT TIME: 2005 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: PULLEY RIDGE 949 IMAGE DATE: 05-31-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1556 UTC DATA SOURCE: LANDSAT8 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 30 meter LOCATION: 25°01'22" N/82°45'22" W AREA: 0.31 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS REPORT IS BASED ON IMAGERY TAKEN MORE THAN 24 HOURS AGO. Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. An anomaly believed to be an oil slick was approximately 1 nm long and extended north from the site of the Cudahy shipwreck. The feature was located on the edge of the sun-lit area, so it appeared black in imagery and stood out of place from its surroundings. Winds were between 1 and 5 kts from the ESE at the time of the image. Given the anomaly's dark appearance and connection to a repeat leak source, we had high confidence that the anomaly was an oil slick. UNCERTAINTIES: None.
