REPORT DATE: 06-05-2019 REPORT TIME: 0915 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SOUTH PASS 18 IMAGE DATE: 06-05-2019 IMAGE TIME: 0001 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 29°00'13" N/88°59'40" W AREA: 7.21 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil and appears dark against the ocean background. This anomaly measures 0.6NMI wide and approximately 2.4NMI long. While a source could not be established it should be noted that this anomaly is located approximately 5NMI from the destroyed Taylor platform and could be related to the ongoing leakage occurring there and winds during the time of this image support this logic. However given the distance away it is not conclusive. A Medium-High confidence was established for this MPSR. UNCERTAINTIES: Given that a solid link between this anomaly and the Destroyed Taylor platform could not be established some doubt exists, however the strong signature and location support a Medium-High confidence rating.
