REPORT DATE: 06-21-2019 REPORT TIME: 1515 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 06-21-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1040 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 3.01 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. It was believed that the anomaly was emanating from the known Wreck 1487. The anomaly directly connected to the point source was approximately 8.23 nm oriented N-SE and approximately 0.15 nm in width. The dark anomaly had moderate to high contrast to its homogeneous surroudings. There was no sign of natural phenomena within the vicinity. Winds near the time of the image were coming from the SW between 15-20 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: There were separated portions of possible oil seen NE of the point source. The moderate to high winds could explain the drift of the separated oil portions.
