REPORT DATE: 06-22-2019 REPORT TIME: 0100 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 06-21-2019 IMAGE TIME: 2355 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: Standard VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 1.68 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located near the site of the known underwater destroyed Taylor platform, a known repeat leak source, and was approximately 3.7 nmi in length and up to 0.22 nmi in width oriented E-W becoming N-S. Winds from several nearby observing stations near the time of the image were 8-15 kts from the south. The anomaly appeared dark against its background with defined edges. UNCERTAINTIES: Due to the repeat leak nature of the Taylor site, there are no uncertainties and confidence that this is oil is high.
