REPORT DATE: 06-27-2019 REPORT TIME: 2245 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 6627 IMAGE DATE: 06-26-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1048 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°24'03" N/72°22'13" W AREA: 0.63 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS REPORT IS BASED ON IMAGERY CAPTURED YESTERDAY. Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended approximately 1.67 nmi to the west from the site of the Coimbra tanker shipwreck, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.23 nmi in width. It appeared dark and had high contrast to its surroundings. Winds at the time of image were from the NE at 10 knots. The anomaly had sharp unnatural turns but false positives with similar contrast were seen nearby. Confidence was determined to be Medium-High given the association with a repeat leak source and the nearby false positives. UNCERTAINTIES: There were false positives with similar contract nearby.
