REPORT DATE: 07-20-2019 REPORT TIME: 2015 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 07-19-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1536 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 0.02 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS REPORT IS BASED ON IMAGERY CAPTURED YESTERDAY. Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended approximately 0.46 nmi to the north from the site of Wreck 1487, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.03 nmi in width. The anomaly stood out well against the background and in sunglint, it had silver/white shimmer to part of the anomaly. Winds at the time of image were from the west at 10 knots. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a repeat leak source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly extended under cloud cover, potentially obscuring the full extent of the anomaly.
