REPORT DATE: 07-26-2019 REPORT TIME: 0945 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: GALVESTON BAY 246 IMAGE DATE: 07-26-2019 IMAGE TIME: 0027 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 29°31'29" N/94°51'18" W AREA: 1.50 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. A broken oil slick extended 3.6 nm to the south-southwest of an oil facility in Galveston Bay. The slick was up to 0.5 nm wide and showed evidence of feathering as a result of winds, which were from the east at 10 knots. UNCERTAINTIES: Given the lack of a confirmed slick in the area with heavy ship traffic, which was seen in the satellite image, confidence was slightly reduced to medium-high.
