REPORT DATE: 08-20-2019 REPORT TIME: 1610 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 08-20-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1040 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 4.63 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: A possible oil slick was observed in satellite imagery. The slick appeared to originate from the location of a known ship wreck (Wreck 1487), a source of repeat oil leaks. The anomaly was measured 15.1 NMI long and 0.69 NMI wide. The anomaly extends E, NE and W from the point source. The anomaly shows good contrast against the ocean background and is far removed from natural phenomenon. UNCERTAINTIES: Since the anomaly seems to originate from a repeat oil leak source, there is no uncertainty.
