REPORT DATE: 09-01-2019 REPORT TIME: 1200 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: TRINITY BAY 22-23B IMAGE DATE: 09-01-2019 IMAGE TIME: 0017 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) HH RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 29°44'48" N/94°46'06" W AREA: 9.37 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to be emanating from a point source, stretched more than 6.6 nmi towards the west and measured 1.0 nmi at its greatest width. The anomaly's furthest western extent encounters the coastline in Trinity Bay. Measured winds at the time of observation were 5 kts and from the east-southeast. Confidence was determined to be Medium given the nature of the anomaly. Edges were defined as diffuse and winds speeds were to low too distinguish characteristics indicative of oil. UNCERTAINTIES: Clearly there existed some type of material on the surface of the water at the time of observation and whether it is oil is to be determined.
