REPORT DATE: 09-24-2019 REPORT TIME: 0315 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: EUGENE ISLAND 198 IMAGE DATE: 09-23-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1640 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°43'13" N/91°44'27" W AREA: 1.80 square kilometers (Updated 05/14/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was approximately 8.08 nm in length and approximately 0.10 nm in width. The SE end of the anomaly was white/shimmery which indicated relatively thicker oil while the rest of the anomaly was black indicating thin oil. UNCERTAINTIES: Although there was no visible point source, there were possible pipelines within the vicinity of the anomaly. Also, winds near the time of the image were coming from the ENE between 5-10 kts which did not align well with the orientation of the anomaly.
