REPORT DATE: 09-26-2019 REPORT TIME: 0845 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 6556 IMAGE DATE: 09-25-2019 IMAGE TIME: 2234 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°29'08" N/69°48'47" W AREA: 1.68 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly measured 3.7 NM long by 0.2 NM wide at its widest point and had good contrast with its background. Additionally, the anomaly had an unnatural sharp turn. However, there was no apparent point source in the scene, nor did winds out of the SW at 10-15 KT align with its orientation. Considering the above, we have MEDIUM confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly did not have a point source, nor was discrete feathering evident.
