REPORT DATE: 10-01-2019 REPORT TIME: 0300 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 09-30-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1630 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 0.24 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to be emanating from the destroyed Taylor Energy platform. It extended approximately 1.62 nmi to the NNE from the site and measured 0.05 nmi at its greatest width. The anomaly appeared dark in color and stood out well against the background. Winds at the time of image were from the ENE at 10 knots. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a repeat leak source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: Winds at the time of image did not align with the orientation of the anomaly.
