REPORT DATE: 10-07-2019 REPORT TIME: 1600 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 6555 IMAGE DATE: 10-07-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1040 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°29'25" N/69°52'02" W AREA: 0.71 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was believed to be emanating from the shipwreck Andrea Doria. It was approximately 3.75 nm oriented SW-N and approximately 0.11 nm in width. The anomaly was dark and had low contrast against its homogeneous surrounding. Winds at the time of the image were coming from the SW between 10-15 kts. which aligned well with the orientation of the anomaly. UNCERTAINTIES: Due to the anomaly's low contrast, uncertain whether the anomaly was directly connected to the exact coordinates of the point source.
