REPORT DATE: 10-30-2019 REPORT TIME: 2330 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: HIGH ISLAND A 547 IMAGE DATE: 10-30-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1645 UTC DATA SOURCE: LANDSAT8 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 30 meter LOCATION: 27°59'44" N/93°58'35" W AREA: 0.23 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil anomaly observed in satellite imagery. The anomaly was located approximately 205 NMI east of Corpus Christi, TX. The oil anomaly was connected to a point source which was believed to be an oil platform facility. The anomaly was measured 0.94 NMI long and 0.13 NMI wide and it extends north from the platform. The anomaly shows silvery and dark appearance and is far removed from natural phenomenon. Winds near the time of the image were out of the south between 15-20 knots. Confidence is high given the dark and silvery appearance in high resolution imagery and the fact that the anomaly is attached to a point source.
