REPORT DATE: 11-11-2019 REPORT TIME: 2330 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 11-11-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1535 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 0.32 square kilometers (Updated 05/14/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was believed to be emanating from the known Wreck 1487 shipwreck. The anomaly was about 0.13 nm E from the point source coordinates and was emanating towards the NE. It was approximately 2.99 nm in length and approximately 0.06 nm in width. Although the relatively thicker oil, the white/shimmer portion of the anomaly, had moderate contast against the ocean background, the relatively thin oil had very low contrast. Winds near the time of the image were coming from the SSE at 5 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: Due to the low contrast the anomaly had againsts its surroundings, it was unknown whether it was directly connected to the point source.
