REPORT DATE: 11-26-2019 REPORT TIME: 2200 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 6555 IMAGE DATE: 11-26-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1536 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 40°29'25" N/69°52'02" W AREA: 0.55 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended approximately 2.97 nmi to the northeast from the site of the Andrea Dorian shipwreck, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.07 nmi in width. The anomaly appeared silvery and distinct from its background. It also showed unnatural sharp turns. Winds at the time of image were from the southwest at 5-10 knots, aligning well with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a repeat leak source and visible chromatic characteristics. UNCERTAINTIES: Due to the repeat leak nature of the suspected source, there are no uncertainties.
