REPORT DATE: 12-14-2019 REPORT TIME: 1445 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: WEST DELTA 79 IMAGE DATE: 12-14-2019 IMAGE TIME: 0001 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 28°58'17" N/89°30'50" W AREA: 0.43 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to emanate from the oil facilities nearby. It stretched approximately 0.94 nmi to the SSW and measured 0.3 nmi at its maximum width. The anomaly appeared dark and has high contrast against the ocean background. Winds at the time of image were from the NNE at 10-15 knots, aligning well with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be Medium-High given that the anomaly was attached to the oil facilities and has moderate contrast edges.
