This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to emanate from a suspected point source and extends SE for approximately 6 NM. The anomaly appeared dark against the ocean background with well-defined edges oil and was indicative of oil in SAR imagery. Local wind data indicates that winds were out of the NW at approximately 14 kts and align very well with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be Medium given that the anomaly did not originate for a repeat leak source and there was no NRC report for this anomaly. UNCERTAINTIES: Given its proximity to land there is some possibility that this anomaly could have been caused by biogenic matter.
