REPORT DATE: 01-31-2020 REPORT TIME: 0110 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 01-30-2020 IMAGE TIME: 2351 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 50 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 3.30 square kilometers (Updated 05/14/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended 10.5 NM long by about 0.25 NM wide at its widest point and had faint contrast with its background. Winds out of the NE at 10-15 KT aligned well with the anomaly which appeared to be associated with the Destroyed Taylor Platform. However, since the the anomaly start point was considerably detached from the suspected point soure, we only have Med-High confidence in the assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: The anomaly could have been associated with a ship wake, shift in currents or biogenic matter.
