REPORT DATE: 02-05-2020 REPORT TIME: 0645 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 02-04-2020 IMAGE TIME: 2234 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 0.45 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended approximately 1.12 nmi to the northeast from the site of Wreck 1487, a known repeat oil leak source, and was up to 0.19 nmi in width. It appeared dark and had high contrast to its homogeneous surroundings. Winds at the time of image were from the WSW at 10-15 knots, aligning well with the orientation of the anomaly. Confidence was determined to be high given the association with a repeat leak source and the high contrast to its surroundings. UNCERTAINTIES: There are no uncertainties.
