REPORT DATE: 02-09-2020 REPORT TIME: 0800 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: TRINITY BAY 46 IMAGE DATE: 02-09-2020 IMAGE TIME: 0026 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Stripmap (SM) HH RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 29°40'16" N/94°47'29" W AREA: 0.50 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. A broken, narrow oil slick extended a total of 2.7 nm to the north of a suspected point source in Trinity Bay. The slick was up to 0.14 nm wide. Winds at the time were from the southeast at 10 knots. UNCERTAINTIES: The orientation of the slick was largely consistent with surface winds. A number of oil facilities exist in the immediate area of the slick, but one stands out as the most likely source. The anomaly showed only moderate contrast with its surroundings, which reduced confidence.
