REPORT DATE: 02-12-2020 REPORT TIME: 2400 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 02-12-2020 IMAGE TIME: 1634 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 16.25 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was believed to be emanating from the known Destroyed Taylor Platform. The anomaly was related to NRC #1271089. The anomaly was approximately 5.08 nm in length and approx. 2.26 nm at its widest. There was a combination of silver/shimmery and true color oil in the center of the anomaly which are color characteristics of relatively thicker oil. Winds near the time of the image were coming from the S at 5 kts which aligned well with orientation of the anomaly. UNCERTAINTIES: The full extent of the anomaly was unknown due to cloud coverage and natural phenomena N of the anomaly.
