REPORT DATE: 02-18-2020 REPORT TIME: 1500 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 02-18-2020 IMAGE TIME: 1146 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: ScanSAR Narrow VV RESOLUTION: 50 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 18.47 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended 23.5 NM long by 0.6 NM wide at its widest point and had very good contrast with its background. There was also apparent feathering consistent with an oil signature. Additionally, the anomaly was associated with a known repeat leak source, the Destroyed Taylor Platform. However, it did not align well with winds out of the SE at 10 KTS. Considering the above factors, we have HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: None.
