REPORT DATE: 03-24-2020 REPORT TIME: 0250 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: GALVESTON BAY 210 IMAGE DATE: 03-24-2020 IMAGE TIME: 1222 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 29°37'14" N/94°57'30" W AREA: 5.30 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. This anomaly was observed in Trinity Bay, TX with an area measuring approximately 4.8 km2 with a long trail leading to a suspected vessel. The anomaly appears dark against the ocean background and exhibits good contrast from its surroundings. Winds during the time of this anomaly were out of the SW at approximately 10 kts. Given the position and size of this anomaly it is difficult to determine if the anomaly has been affected by the wind. However this anomaly has a medium high confidence level due to its good contrast and suspected point source. UNCERTAINTIES: It was difficult to determine if the wind has affected this anomaly and biogenic material could not be ruled out.
