REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly first noted yesterday in NRC #1276036 persisted until today, but was much smaller. The slick was not attached to the suspected point source, but was centered south of it, and approximately 12.8 nm SE of Bayou Blanc in Marsh Is. The anomaly stretched 2.1 nm from N to S and was 0.8 nm wide. It appeared bright white in sunglint and its orientation was consistent with surface winds from the NW at 10-15 knots, although model forecast ocean currents were from the southeast.

UNCERTAINTIES: The coarse resolution of the satellite imagery does not allow for a precise measurement of the size of the slick. The anomaly existed near shore amidst tightly packed bathymetric lines in waters still laden with sediments as a result of substantial runoff. Confidence was still assessed as medium-high because an anomaly was present in the same area yesterday.
