REPORT DATE: 05-15-2020 REPORT TIME: 1700 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 05-15-2020 IMAGE TIME: 1049 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 1.01 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. An oil slick meandered for at least 2.7 nm primarily to the north of Wreck 1487 and was up to 0.25 nm wide. Winds at the time were from the southwest at 10-15 knots. UNCERTAINTIES: Yesterday afternoon the oil slick extended 4 nm to the south and west of the wreck (NRC #1277325) so it seemed reasonable today to include the area west of the point source, which although distinguishable from its surroundings, was less distinct than the remainder of the slick.
