REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was in multiple parts and appeared to emanate from the site of the destroyed Taylor platform, a known repeat leak source. The first section extended northwest curving to south from the suspected source with a length of 10.3 nmi and a width up to 0.4 nmi. Additional areas extended NE to SW for 14.2 nmi with a width up to 1.8 nmi. All areas were distinct against their backgrounds, with shimmery white areas indicating possible thicker oil. Winds around the time of the image were from the S at around 8 kts. Modeled surface currents were to the SW.

UNCERTAINTIES: Clouds in the area may have obscured portions of the anomaly. It was uncertain whether the southern oil areas along the NE-SW axis were related to the oil emanating from the Taylor site; other oil facilities and some natural seeps were in close proximity to these areas.
