REPORT DATE: 07-03-2020 REPORT TIME: 1530 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 07-02-2020 IMAGE TIME: 1048 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) HH RESOLUTION: 20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 5.21 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: A possible oil slick was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The slick appeared to originate from the location of a known ship wreck (Wreck 1487), a source of repeat oil leaks. The anomaly was measured 15.1 NMI long and 0.79 NMI wide. The feature extended SSW from the source, did a complete loop and continued to extend in the west direction The anomaly shows a strong contrast against the ocean background despite the presence of biogenic materials within the vicinity.
