REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located approximately 6 nmi SW of Holly Beach, LA and appeared to emanate eastward from an oil facility. The anomaly measured approximately 1.3 nmi in length and was up to 0.1 nmi in width, widening with distance from the suspected source. The anomaly had a milky-white appearance nearer to the suspected source, and was darker and less-defined further to the east. Winds at the time of the image were from the W at 10-15 kts, which aligned well with the anomaly.

UNCERTAINTIES: There were no reports of oil slicks in the area. Clouds may have obscured portions of the anomaly. The relative proximity to land allowed for the possibility that this was a false positive. Thus, confidence that this was oil is medium-high.
