REPORT DATE: 10-02-2020 REPORT TIME: 0401 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 10-01-2020 IMAGE TIME: 1536 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 0.65 square kilometers CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly measured 4.0NM long with a maximum width of 0.18NM and appears dark against the ocean background with a bright silver embedded area indicating possible thick oil in sunglint conditions. Winds during the time of this anomaly were out of the SW at 14kts gusting to 15kts and matches well with the orientation of this anomaly. Given that this is a known repeat leak location confidence in this anomaly is high. UNCERTAINTIES: There is no onsite confirmation this release.
