REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located approximately 33 nmi southwest of Port Fourchon, LA in the Gulf of Mexico, and consisted of three parts spread approximately 3.1 nmi oriented east-west and up to 1.1 nmi north-south. Winds near the location at the time of the image were around 8 kts from the N. The anomaly was dark against its background and well-isolated from any other areas of similar appearance. There were no known natural oil seeps in this area.

UNCERTAINTIES: Numerous oil facilities and pipelines were located in the general area of the anomaly, but none were co-located with it, and no facility could be identified as a likely source. There were no known reports of oil spills in the area. Thus, confidence that this was oil is medium.
