REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to emanate generally westward from the site of Wreck 1487, a known repeat leak source. The anomaly measured approximately 9.8 nmi in length and up to 0.3 nmi in width. It had a faintly-dark appearance against its background, with a center area along part of its length with a milky-white appearance suggesting possible thicker oil. Winds around the time of the image were from the WSW at about 8 kts.

UNCERTAINTIES: The non-thick oil portions of the anomaly were somewhat difficult to discern, and may have been over-estimated, particularly on the western end of the anomaly. Still, the presence of likely thicker oil and the repeat leak nature of the suspected source allow for high confidence that this was oil.
