REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located approximately 13 nmi SW from the outlet of Southwest Pass in LA. The anomaly measured approximately 3.2 nmi oriented E-W and up to 2.1 nmi at its widest point. Winds at the time of the image were from the N at 10 kts. The anomaly was dark with high contrast against its background, with shimmery white coloring along its south edge suggesting possible thicker oil. The anomaly exhibited signs of feathering, which were consistent with the wind direction.

UNCERTAINTIES: A point source could not be identified, although several pipelines crossed underneath the anomaly.  An anomaly to the NE of this anomaly, outlined in a separate report, could have been related to this anomaly.
