REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was located approximately 7.5 nmi SW of Port Fourchon, LA and measured approximately 0.75 nmi in length and up to 0.36 nmi in width, oriented E-W. The anomaly was dark and distinct against its background, with a small area of shimmery white suggesting possible thicker oil along the southern edge. Winds at the time of the image were from the N at 5-8 kts.

UNCERTAINTIES: No point source could be identified, although numerous oil facilities and pipelines were nearby. The anomaly could have been related to the nearby SEACOR Power recovery operation and NRC report #1304569 (a separate MPSR from this image), but this is uncertain, and the anomaly appeared to distinct from that report.
